paul- i like him... and his kids.

aaron and i joined paul and his kids (paige, sam and jake) for dinner and rough housing saturday night and it was a crazy good time.

first, we drank beer and helped paul make lasagna.

i tricked sam into letting me kiss him on the cheek. ;-)

we climbed on the pirate ship in the back yard.

we ate dinner and named all the states in alphabetical order.

we horsed around on the living room floor (i sustained a few bruises from being jumped on repeatedly)

sam tricked me into letting him kiss me on the cheek. =)

we put on safety equipment and rode the sled down the stairs into the bean bags.

we ate ice cream and strawberries.

kids went to bed. =)

paul- seriously, your kids are great!!! thanks for the great evening!!

splat the mat

this site fascinated me for at least 3 minutes!! that's an internet record, i'm sure!

i don't really care if the mats in my car get dirty, but if i did, this would have done it for me.

very fun!

cursors are fun? really?

there are 72 different cursors and they all have a different personality.

i was surprised to hear myself laugh out loud at a couple, or smile at them. those ones were my friends.

i'm billing my time

clients don't understand how their actions affect a project, and that's frustrating sometimes...

this is about lawyers, but it works on many levels:

thanks tracy!!

april fools- i kidnapped bongo

so i work with this guy, edmond.

he and i both have stuffed animal friends (as do a number of people in the office, don't ask me why). my little duck is dexter, and his little 'monkey' is bongo.

for april fools day i kidnapped bongo, tied him up, took pics of him, and then hid him and sent this url demanding beer as ransom.

critical to my plan was the hope that there would be more than one suspect for the crime.

in fact there were three main suspects, including myself, as well as other theories:
1. bongo had turned into an alcoholic, run away from home, and was now demanding beer with which to quench his thirst.
2. edmond had hidden Bongo away himself in order to gain everyone's sympathy

at one point, some coworkers formed the bongo liberation front and sent nasty messages out to the kidnappers, which is why there is an extra message at the top of that webpage.

another co-worker of mine helped out, spoofed the email server, and sent an email from bongo to edmond asking him to please help.

in the end, edmond conceded and brought in beer for the captor. bongo was released without anyone knowing for sure who had kidnapped him and without any serious injury.

at this point, i am still a main suspect, and rightfully so. i'm trying to think of clever ways to reveal my identity without just admitting it openly. i'm trying to think of something that would be fun.

i thought about leaving the beer in the fridge and sending another anonymous email message to the team saying 'there's beer for everyone, from edmond'. my fear on this one is that no one will want to drink it for fear they will be implicated, or worse yet, sympathetic to the kidnappers.

so help me out- how do i let on that it was me, without just admitting it. any suggestions?

skateboarding girls

since aaron found this on friday, i think he's watched it at least 5 separate times.

it is by far his favorite thing in the whole world right now.

he loves the pictures before each segment and he's told me nikita is his favorite.

frozen four- michigan state wins the championship!

aaron and i went to the frozen four hockey tournament in st louis this weekend. scott richard was not able to go =( , but we had a great time, just the two of us. here are some of the things we did (and here are all the pics we took):

- went to the first two games on thursday- super fun

- went to bissinger's (they have the best hand made chocolates, hooray!), picked out a whole slew of different kinds of chocolates and are sharing them ever so slowly to make them last.

- froze to death- st louis had a cold spell. we didn't bring our winter coats, but we should have. weather.com said 40's and 50's. damn weather.com. with wind chill it was barely 25.

- walked past the arch about a zillion times. there was a line outside (in the cold) for about an hour for those that wanted to get in. aaron and i have been up in the arch together about 11 years ago (hard to believe it was that long ago, or how different we are from those young kids), so we skipped it this weekend. we did go sit by it for awhile, though.

- ate lunch at morgan's brewery twice, which was absolutely fantastic

- froze some more

- ate dinner at zia's (thanks for the recommendation gabe!)

- watched 'blades of glory' at the moolah temple theater. this theater near the st louis university campus reminded us a lot of the uptown theater in mnpls since it's a very old building, only shows one film, and is packed every weekend. moolah was cool for one other reason, though. it wasn't originally a theater, so it's just a huge room with a screen added in. the floor in front of the screen is filled with leather love seats for couples like us to get comfy in. oh, and you can drink beer or wine in there. it was sublime.

- drove around town to see the different types of homes / architecture / mansions / slums

- visited the courthouse where dred scott had sued for his freedom. aaron sat in the judges chair and pounded on the 3000 year old furniture.

- ate dinner at the drunken fish (sushi, yum)

- froze some more

- took the metro to the games (LOVE the train)

- talked to my brother during the games, which eased the sadness of his not being there.

- watched some seriously fine hockey (violent mansport, as lori likes to call it). michigan state won and that made me very happy. boston college, by the way, is a very fine team. they are super talented and their fans are super awesome!!! they stand out in my mind as a very fine group of people, and they have always been so. would have rather beat UND for the title because their fans are outrageous and deserve to lose in the last 19 seconds of a game.

here is the comment i already wrote in flickr, repurposed here for your convenience:

michigan state tied the game with six minutes left in the game, then scored a goal with 19 seconds left to ensure victory. after bc pulled their goalie to try for a tie, state got the puck and skated back for one more goal to win 3 to 1. it was a damn fine game.

- we had an awesome weekend. THANKS ST. LOUIS!!! (you may not be as wonderful as minneapolis, but you have some good things goin' on)

castle smasher- time waster

it's been awhile since i posted a link to a time waster game, so i figure i can throw one out there without too much guilt...

here's castle smasher.

you catapult the castle until it's gone, and you try to fill up with more balls if you can.

of course, it's strangely addicting.

have fun!!

ass slices- served up in australia

so my brother took this picture on the sly in australia. it's a little fuzzy cause he took it kinda fast, cause he didn't want someone to see him take a picture of the ass. slices...

of course, it's short for assorted slices, but it's too funny not to snicker at anyway.

i'm thinking $2.00 is pretty cheap for ass. slices...

also, does anyone need an 'abuse of older people' resource kit?

i want to live in australia...

where we had our first kiss

happy valentine's day!!

aaron and i had our first kiss on ellis road in muskegon, michigan, sometime in june 1993. i was seventeen and he was eighteen and it was an awesome kiss to lead many other awesome kisses.

i put the exact spot on the map at whereihadmyfirstkiss.com.

when we were home for christmas, we learned that the airport had taken over more land recently and that the place where we had kissed for the first time is now inside the airport perimeter.

if i were going to try to read meaning into that, what would it mean?
